SUMMARY:2ND WEBINAR WITH TKC
DESCRIPTION:The Knowledge Channel headed in London is a training and capacity development organisation that uses an IT driven delivery system to distribute e-training programmes via its website, via smart phones and through bespoke conventional workshops. The vision of The Knowledge Channel is to be a channel that uses multimedia to educate, enlighten and empower. The Agro mindset Organisation shall collaborate with high level institutions, industries, commercial and government entities to help in capacity-building. We are having our first Webinar on 4th April 2012 on the topic “ NURTURING A YOUTHFUL GENERATION OF AGRIC PRODUCERS ”. Agriculture unarguably is Africa’s most significant economic sector, responsible for almost one third of the African countries’ GDP, and employs more than 60 percent of the population. Many youths completing education in institutions of learning have not been empowered enough to understand the requirements for profitable agricultural production and are engaged in daily search of scarce white collar jobs but the youth have a critical opportunity to play a role in its development, but young graduates are not thinking about it as an option. Agriculture in Africa requires modernisation, and new mind sets, there’s great potential in agriculture for the youth, but only if mindsets change now! The future of agriculture relies on the younger generation coming through to provide succession, add enthusiasm, bring fresh ideas and drive innovation. To us, as long as agricultural growth in Sub-Saharan Africa remains below 3% annually, food security is wishful thinking.

SUMMARY:Agro Summit 2012 (Fork to field)
DESCRIPTION:THE AGRO SUMMIT 2012. Theme- FORK TO FIELD... The Agro Mindset Organisation is building capacity working out through training and changing attitudes. As part of our programmes to achieve our objectives, we are organizing the “AGRO SUMMIT” on 18th February 2012 from 9:00 am to 2pm at the Great Hall, KNUST and the theme for the summit is “FORK TO FIELD”. This AGRO SUMMIT aims to equip the youth to develop their business acumen as they partake to mature their enterprise skills by giving platforms for students discourse with visiting speakers from the world of the agricultural industry. We want to attract the youth to agri-business, and start an innovation marketplace to launch new ideas and support entrepreneurs with advisory services. Young people will then begin to think innovatively about how they can create jobs for themselves, instead of seeking existing jobs. This will further the employment opportunities that we need and help lift agriculture to prominence in the Ghana. The Agro Summit will work to stir up urgency of entrepreneurship, innovation and practical agriculture in the youth; poise them about its impact and benefits, its self employment role and wealth creation and will not only benefit the youth attending the program but also the organisations, co-operate bodies involved in making this conference successful and in fulfilling national interest to empower its youth. The Special Guest speaker for the Agro Summit is PHILIP NICHOLAS WATTS, a member of the British Empire, an associate of the Royal Agricultural Society. He is a multi award winner including and the 2011 winner of the Silver Lapwing Award (most prestigious award in farming and conservation) and the rural Enterprise award in United Kingdom. The summit will break mindsets and equip the youthful thinking to be more productive. We are expecting a total number of 2000 participants involving farmers, businessmen, politicians, investors, entrepreneurs, practitioners, professionals, academicians, senior and junior high schools, undergraduate and postgraduate students drawn across the country. By the end of the Agro Summit, it is envisaged that the youth would have their mindsets transformed to rethink agriculture. They would be given a sense of direction, hope and enthusiasm to face the unknown head-on, with the right attitude and tools to work innovatively about the challenges that lie ahead in this field as we seek to address some of these issues to transform the Ghanaian youthful thinking towards building a career in agriculture.
